Volunteer Application
Our 5-Step Application Process
Submit an application. Please complete the application below.
Attend a monthly meeting. Our monthly meetings are referred to as our Monthly Sangha Meeting. After submitting the Volunteer Application form you will receive an email from Insight on the Inside. You will then receive an invitation to attend our next meeting.
Follow-up. After attending two meetings, the Program Director will contact you to set up an interview and will provide you with a link to the Volunteer Handbook. To prepare for the interview, please read the Handbook.
Complete your interview. A one-on-one conversation will be scheduled in which you can ask questions and we can learn more about you.
Invitation to Slack. We conduct our communication via Slack. Most people find this platform easy to navigate but we are happy to help if needed.
Placement. We begin the process of finding the best fit for you within IOI, be it committee work or facilitating meditation groups.
By completing this application form you acknowledge the following components of our community, commitments, and expectations that Insight on the Inside has of its teachers:
You are at least 18 years of age.
If you are interested in facilitating meditation classes, we ask that you commit to doing so at least twice a month. Upon completion of your classes, you are expected to log your volunteer hours for each class.
We also ask that you attend at least 6 monthly meetings a year, read and respond to emails when requested.
You agree that you can commit to upholding our community Values and Ethics, which we invite you to read in full on our website prior to completing this application.
You commit to the inner and outer work of increasing awareness of privilege and power — through the study of history and contemporary works on race, gender, class, and other forms of oppression and engage in community conversations about these topics.
Insight on the Inside teaching is based on the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction model of Jon Kabat Zinn. By completing this application, you are indicating that you are comfortable teaching within this framework.
